Hello, my name is Chef Chris Buell, and here is the Uncle Bud’s story. Uncle Bud’s Blends by Chef Chris is more than 50 years in the making. I have been cooking with my dad since the age of 8 and have been a professional chef for more than 30 years. My dad, Elmer, “Bud” Buell has been my inspiration and the inspiration for these blends. He had more than 30 nieces and nephews and also garnered the affection of our whole town, so it seemed that everyone called him “Uncle Bud”.
He was a man of the earth; fresh food from the garden (His garden was his pride & joy!), wild leeks from the woods, apple and berry picking were required chores. There were baby dandelion greens, beet greens and fresh dug horseradish every spring. He even foraged for wild mushrooms, knowing what was edible what was not. He knew so much about the wonders of fresh, unprocessed foods and how much better they taste! So, in honor of my dad, known by many as, “Uncle Bud”, I bring you, Uncle Bud’s Blends.
The goal is simply to enhance the natural and fresh flavors of Real Food. Just like Uncle Bud, one needs to start with real food – Fresh meats, fish, fruits and vegetables, not all that processed crap that usually have 30-40 percent of your daily allowance of sodium!! Uncle Bud’s Blends NEVER have salt as a first ingredient, and all spice blends and rubs’ salt content is less than 20% of all ingredients. Instead of covering the flavor of your food with salt, these blends are designed to enhance the flavors of your food with the perfect combination of herbs & spices. As chef and owner, I personally, hand select all ingredients and mix, make and bottle everything. This is a true, handmade, custom product using the finest ingredients at their peak of freshness!
These blends, rubs, sauces and dressings are all recipes that I have created and have been using in my restaurants and catering business for years – All developed with my dad’s food philosophies guiding the way. The hope is to “Tickle your Taste Buds! Enjoy!
